Setareh and Nick had their wedding at a private family residence in Valley Village that was simple, stylish, intimate and comfortable. It was honestly one of the most inspiring weddings that I've had the opportunity to document. We spent just a short while on posed photos. The rest of the day was dedicated to spending time with good friends, good family and good food. Sometimes as photographers, we get hung up on looking at all the wedding magazines, blogs, pinterest etc, and get caught taking too many polished editorial looking photos that really don't capture the mood or personalities of the couple/event. If we aren't being sensitive to each couple and event and giving them honest imagery, then what are we doing as image makers? I've taken a sincere break from looking at other people's work, magazines, etc. to get to the root of why I love documenting weddings. I love taking honest candids and documenting the day for what it is.
