Rachael and Nate are wonderfully patient. They were such troopers throughout our session. It was pretty cold out but these two did not complain once! As a photographer in Minnesota, I have come to embrace ALL seasons! I feel fortunate to live in a part of the world where the seasons change often and nature provides so many environments to work with. This state is a photographer's dream. Whatever the weather brings, I can deal! I always make a huge effort to make the most out of any situation including snow covered days in Minnesota...there are a lot of them so do whatever you can to enjoy it!
I have known Rachael since Kindergarten. I remember she was so impressed that I could color inside of the lines :) Since then, she started dating Nate during senior year of High School and both went to Winona State to become teachers. With Rachael's relentlessly bubbly personality and Nate's loveable bear kindness, these two compliment each other so well and I think any parent would be honored to have these two be a part of their young child's life. For their engagement session, we went to Garvin Heights where Nate proposed. He didn't propose on the main landing but rather on the smaller landing 30 feet down the hill...which means we traveled downward on icy snow to our destination. It's a good thing I love doing this because Garvin Heights doesn't actually have any guard rails or any caution signage, which means we were taking photos on icy snow-packed rocks snuggled into a steep cliff. The photos overlooking Winona are some of my favorite photos, so I'm glad we did this! The others were taken at Holzinger Lodge to get that winter cabin feel. There was a gathering being held there at the time and they were gracious enough to let us come in and take a few photos by the fireplace!
And who doesn't LOVE that Hot Pink Coat!!
